1. Physics for Board Exams: The Foundation

For Board exams, Physics is less about “tricks” and more about articulation and clarity. It sets the academic baseline you need for graduation.
Conceptual Bedrock: Boards focus on your ability to define laws and derive expressions. If you can explain F = ma or derive the lens maker’s formula, you’ve mastered the fundamentals.
The Power of Derivations: Unlike competitive exams, Boards reward the process. Mastering derivations ensures you understand the “why” behind the “what.”
Step-Wise Marking: This is your safety net. Even if your final calculation is slightly off, showing a logical progression of steps (and the correct units!) earns you most of the credit.
Laboratory Skills: Board exams include practicals, which teach you the art of measurement, error analysis, and observation—skills essential for any future engineer or doctor.

2. Physics for Competitive Exams (JEE, NEET, etc.)

In the competitive arena, Physics shifts from being a “subject” to being a rank-decider. It is often the toughest section, separating the top-tier candidates from the rest.
Why it’s the “Filter”:
Application over Rote Learning: You won’t be asked to define “Inertia.” You’ll be asked to calculate the tension in a multi-pulley system while a monkey climbs one of the ropes. It tests your ability to apply multiple concepts simultaneously.
Mathematical Rigor: Competitive Physics requires a strong grasp of calculus and vectors. Formulas like the work-energy theorem are applied in complex, non-ideal scenarios, where calculus (integration and differentiation) are involved. 
Speed and Accuracy: You have roughly 2 minutes per question for long questions. This demands “gut-level” physics intuition—knowing which variable to ignore and which formula to deploy instantly.
